In June of 2002 I went on a 5-day private rafting trip through the lower Grand Canyon from Diamond Creek to Lake Mead with a fun gang of wild and rowdy people.  A large contingent of our group consisted of airline pilots and flight attendants.  Let me tell you- those people know how to drink and let loose (presumably only when they aren't flying).

On the first day of our trip, the van we rented got a flat tire on the access road to the river.  We were temporarily stranded in the middle of the HOT desert while changing the tire with the spare.  Less than five minutes after changing the tire and getting underway again, the new tire had a blowout.  So we had to send a different vehicle back to town to get another tire.  It was a pain, but fortunately didn't end up hindering our trip.  In fact, the rest of the trip was smooth sailing...
except for the rapids, which were,...
well,...
rapids!  ;)

We had three 18' rafts stocked with food (and beer, and margaritas, and whiskey) and one inflatable kayak for the 16 people in our group.
